Dogs Are Funny

Dogs are funny. They do weird, funny things that we will never understand. It makes us laugh, and it’s why we love them. In celebration of the funny things done by dogs every day, I’ve compiled a list of some of the odd things my dog Freda does on a regular basis.

1.       When eating, Freda will take a small mouthful of food from her bowl, maybe five or six pieces of kibble. She then proceeds to her dog bed, lies down and drops the food in front of her. Then she eats one piece at a time until she finishes her little pile of food. After that, she repeats the process until her food is gone.

2.       Like the lady that she is, Freda crosses her paws frequently when lying in her dog bed. It’s adorable.

3.       (This one is a little gross) About 90 percent of the time, Freda will only poop on top of things…a pile of leaves, a small bush, maybe a large stick on the ground. Flat, level, grass fields are the enemy when it comes to using the bathroom for my dog.

4.       Freda’s favorite move when playing with my cats is to hold the cat down with one paw and then gently place the cat’s head in her mouth. I often get a wet, slobber-covered kitty running to me after one of their play sessions.

5.       Freda makes cute talking noises when she wants to go outside or if she hears another animal outside.

6.       Freda loves tofu, just gobbles it up, but she will leave a dry dog treat on the floor for hours before reluctantly eating it. (I think she gets this trait from her vegetarian mom).

7.       If she thinks she’s about to get a bath, Freda will lay down in a corner, look up at me and wag her tail…but she will not go anywhere. She hates baths.

So what weird, funny things does your dog do? Leave a comment and share some good stories!

Oh, the things Oscar does! He sits up on his butt with his front paws up in the air constantly. Even when he knows he won't get a treat, he'll do this when I'm not paying enough attention to him. He'll also gently lick his toys or bones when he thinks no one is looking... but as soon as he knows you're looking, he'll act ferocious and dog-like. I think he's really a cat.
