First, I would always take Sam out before bed so that he could go the bathroom before going to sleep. Then I put Sam's bed next to mine. Then I put Sam on his bed with a short, tie-down, leash that would not allow him to leave his bed. Dogs will generally not urinate where they sleep. First think in the A.M., I take Sam out again. After a few weeks, I stopped using the tie-down leash. Worked like a charm!

That's a good idea. Sort of like crate training, only you and the dog get to be closer together.
First, I would always take Sam out before bed so that he could go the bathroom before going to sleep. Then I put Sam's bed next to mine.
